Keiko and Yoshiaki Onodera are creating original glass kaleidoscopes with themes. They have produced 4 pieces inspired by "The Tale of Genji".
"The Tale of Genji" is one of the most famous classic novels of Japan and is written by a female writer called Murasaki Shikibu in the beginning of the 11th century. The tale is a masterpiece consisting of 54 chapters that depicts the life of an imperial prince and ladies and has had a significant influence on later literary works.
This is "MURASAKI-NO-UE"
It is titled with lady's name and represents its story. The glass tube is hand-painted in purple shade by the artist on inside. The artists try to express their impression of the story with beautiful colors of purple, blue and gold inside.
Intricate color patterns with narrow-angled three-mirror system are amazing.
It is recommended to cast light into the object cell in order to enjoy more vibrant colors.
