Chitoshi Takabayashi is a wood kaleidoscope artist. He trained under Randy and Shelley Knapp and uses this experience to create his own unique pieces.

The title of this work is MISORA, which means beautiful sky in Japanese.  The body is burned black and has striking appearance. With contrasting white objects, the image represents volumes and shadows like clouds in the sky. The top of the object cell is a rough-looking purple and reflects faintly on the background. The entire cylinder is rotated to enjoy the changes in the image, but moving it up, down, left or right changes the way the light hits it, bringing shadows and creating a richer image expression. The artist's approach to white objects has been his own obsession since his early days, and he is pursuing its interest even further.
3-mirror system. Oil cell.     Max. diameter: 52 mm      Height: 120 mm
