Chitoshi Takabayashi ”Phenomenal/Sett ”

Chitoshi Takabayashi is a wood kaleidoscope artist.　He trained with Randy and Shelley Knapp and uses their experience to create his own unique pieces. He has the woodworking skills to express several types of wood and applies his attention to glass objects in the production of his kaleidoscopes.
The body is made of horse chestnut wood, which shows a very unique grain.
Sett, one of the Phenomenal series, is characterized by a black frame with repeating squares, a pattern from the traditional Celtic costume.　The color pattern floats behind the pattern of shades of gray, creating a unique appearance.
It is a simple design with a cell built into the end of the tube, with brass parts matching the peephole and tip.　This new work was presented at the workshop exhibition in November 2024.
